SoulSistas And SoulBruthas! I though I'd get in my last mix before I turn the blog over to you in February. It feels like I've neglected one of my favourite genres over the past few months and that's Jazz/Funk. I gotta admit, I was really a stranger to it until my Brutha T-Money played some Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters for me back in the day. And if you're a frequent visitor you know I usually jump at any opportunity to sneak Headhunters stuff in mixes. The last one "Four Quads," being a prime example. This mix has also got some really groovy stuff in it. I've got some of the influences on the early 90's Acid Jazz scene like "Boogaloo Joe" Jones, a superbly talented guitar player, as well as the MASSIVE organ of Richard "Groove" Holmes. Some greasy funk from a group I really know nothing about called Deodato, to the Ohio Players, who I'm sure you've heard of, with a rare instrumental. Some swingin' tunes are represented by Donald Byrd with a take on the classic "Boom Boom," as well as the great Les McCann taking you down that "Green, Green, Rocky Road." It's a real mix up, but all the tunes have those get-down-groovy elements I really dig. My hope is that you will too. So, check out the "Fonkey Jazz Mix." As always, feel free to leave a comment if you dig it...and even if you don't. All the best!!!

This one looks pretty heavy, Dave. As always, thanks for the share. I'll be sending you a 45 that I hope will blow your mind in the next couple of days, maybe two if that's okay. Choosing one is so hard, but I've got it narrowed down to one or the other.
Peace and blessings.

Hard to pick just one.
